I agree the tats are better lighter. His eyes are the focal point. darker tats would mess with that
Man, I want a Baldurs Gate 3 with Edwin again. I so loved it when Minsk and Edwin were bickering at each other ^^
NOW I'M ALL EXCITED!! I almost forgot to say 'thank you!'
In fact, I really do see your point: the original BG portraits were pretty bright colors/higher-contrast, which definitely makes them stand out at a smaller size, but again--probably coming back to personal preference hehe--my approach has been more subtle. Although, if I had been thinking of it consciously at the time, I imagine I would have gone about it a bit differently... but I wasn't really trying to copy their style necessarily, and just dove right in and started painting. ^^ (Believe me, it's been hard enough to keep 40+ portraits looking consistent for this project even when I'm using my natural/instinctive style, haha.)
But I learned quite a lot from the experience, and it's definitely making me want to take more chances with color and contrast and all that!! I just had to keep these ones consistent with each other vs consistent with the existing BG portraits.
