I realize you're probably not going to understand this, but...

she looks like a young version of Lobelia Sackville-Baggins! (I know, I know, it's completely idiot to compare a half-elf to a hobbit, but still...)

I had to look Lobelia up, but I can't disagree with you! I mean, I did try to make her look younger/more childlike, which certainly fits along with hobbits, so I understand completely. :D

And the funniest part is, Lobelia's hair is actually closer to how I imagined Sajantha's hair; I just haven't painted it properly yet. :XD:

hmm, well, I was really making the connection because Sajantha looked so irritated about something.

rofl... guess Google image search didn't help me too much with revealing Lobelia's attitude/personality... oh well! :XD: And I just spent a few minutes trying to figure out Sajantha's expression myself haha... I honestly don't remember what my intentions were with this piece. I know I wasn't trying to make her look irritated, but I can't recall what I WAS trying to do.... although, yeah, now I can see how she could look a bit irritated. ^^

I love the soul behind the face. There's really a character to her, her face tells a story... I'm really fascinated with her.

Say, would it be okay if I inspired myself of this picture to create one of my book project's character ? I don't mean to denature your work, but it's just that I'm bursting with ideas right now

of course! I'm flattered. :D (sorry-- hope reply isn't too late!) I've actually changed her a bit since I first envisioned her here, so don't even feel like you're stealing anything.

Besides, you don't even need to ask (but thanks! ^^)-- that's what they call "appropriating" in the art world-- being inspired/taking pieces of something isn't "stealing" if you can make it your own. ;D

Thank you so much ! I officially love you :)

Ha ha, I know I don't "have to", but I still feel better knowing the artist is okay with its work inspiring characters... I guess some people could feel like their character is turned into something else against their will.

Anyway, when I finish my first draft (that could mean in a year or two, lol), I'll let you know all about what she's become ;)

And thank you again for being such an inspiring artist and generous human being. :handshake:

aww you are just so sweet! how could I resist?? :blushes: but you know... considering the things I do to the characters of other fandoms, it would be incredibly hypocritical of me to begrudge anyone playing around with anything of mine. (and seriously, the fact you would even want to is quite flattering. ^^)

but anyway, best of luck with your draft--I know how long those things can take and I wish you speedy progress. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do! :D

this is really nice. Her proportions aren't perfect but for some reason that adds to the piece rather than detracting from it. She looks very real like someone you might see on the street. Nice work!

What a powerful expression. Such a contrast to her otherwise soft features. I'm really liking her hair; you've abstained from strong contrasts but added colors like blues and reds to her rather dusky-blonde haircolor, managing a very interesting effect. Again, I really like how petite she is yet has a really strong presence. :D

If it's digital, I wish I'd know how to have such a realistic render ! :]

oooh wow thanks!! Yeah, it totally looks more like an actual painting than any of my other pieces; maybe it's the coloring?

I'm not really sure what I'm going differently with it, since all my paintings are digital these days. It could just be the references I used: I did copy the clothing from an oil painting. ;)

aww thank you! That's such a great metaphor--it really makes me want to work on the sequel piece where she starts cracking... but then it makes me feel bad for doing that to her. Poor little Bhaalspawn... :forgiveme:

oh, I just made her more realistic (IMO at least, I like forcing my own "regular person"/non-heroic perspective on my protagonists): after all the imprisonment/torture and losing her friends she didn't really bounce back... and she was more of the introspective/carefree type so she didn't have an aggressive nature to fall back on and seek vengeance; she's just terrified.

And then there's some other plot elements, hehe... plenty more character development/roller coaster rides for her. :O

Ahhh, she's beautiful! I love how you can almost tell her half-elven heritage just from the facial structure.

Bhaalspawn FTW.

I always went for an elven kensai - trouble with trying to draw her is that I'd likely get too stuck on blade designs, haha. Thank god for the NWN community and the plethora of portraits there!

I know! I love stealing portraits all over the place; I have a humongous collection of them but I think it's on my external hard drive somewhere... :P

And I don't know if I could do that either--I haven't really drawn weapons at all so that would be awfully distracting. ^^

...and thank you! I wasn't sure if she really looked half-elven, but she's really like a quarter-elven so that didn't matter so much. ;D

Well I'd say the face looks relatively human, especially the large eyes, but something in the eyebrow/cheekbone angle gives her an edge. Overall, a beauty.

Oh geez, I have a ridiculous collection, and once I realized the potential of shadowkeeper I started changing /everyone's/ portraits. I think Xzar might've been the only NPC whose original portrait I had kept.

But hmm yes, a portrait of my BG character is definitely on my list...After all the addictions go away.

yeah, isn't it funny with these addictions?? It's like, I want to draw all the DA or ME or BG characters or something but I can't stop playing the games.

And yeah Shadowkeeper   ...I know I definitely changed all of the mod NPCs. I remember I gave Kelsey a portrait that looked like...Edward Norton in Edwin's mage robes.

...and thank you, again. ^^

Wahahahayy, that's a pretty sweet portrait. I remember I had one where there was a red-head mage in blueish robes that were all over the place ;D

I keep telling myself to at least draw all of my own characters, which would make at least...6ish, including BG2, ME, DA, NWN2, KotOR and Jade Empire.

oooh yeah I need to draw my NWN2 pc! I'm not especially attached to any of my other ones... although the KotOR one might be fun. In my head, neither of those looks anything like the preset/in-game faces though hahaha... which makes it more interesting and more difficult. At least the DA ones you can make look awesome! And the ME creator was almost as good. I never played JE though!

:iconcorruptible:

Hmm, Jade Empire is one of the Bioware classics, and as such the formula was a bit familiar, although it did differ in a sense. The combat system was very fun, though a bit limited as you didn't have a real inventory. Oriental setting, and worth a try ;D

Yeah, I spent /hours/ playing around with the DA creator to make a purdy character - hey, it's part of the fun! I had to mod heavily for NWN2 to make a character I liked, and for NWN I just had to rely on portraits and further ideas. But no, for KotOR I don't imagine my dear Revan looking anything like the model either xD

I actually bought JE a year or two ago but something was wrong with my copy and it didn't install correctly, and I couldn't return it, so... still never actually played it. I've heard a lot of good things, though!!

And yeah, I love all the control you get on every facial detail in like Oblivion and DA, although perfection is certainly time-consuming. ;D Definitely spoils me going back to play NWN2 or KotoR. :P But yeah, that's where our fan art/fangirling comes in handy. ;)

Great portrait! You can see in her face that life has not always been easy. With her face turning at that angle, you wonder what she's just said, or about to say. I'd guess something pithy... :)

I'm glad that came across, but honestly sometimes I feel like all my characters end up looking so...serious--I can't draw them smiling for some reason?? In this case, that fits at least, although technically I should probably save all the angst for the sequel portrait. ;)
